My students created a list of questions they’d ask a person of their choice. I decided to create one, too!
9 questions to ask my grandparents:
•What is one of your favorite childhood memories?
•What age would you want to relive?
•What are the key ingredients for staying married 60+ years?
•Who was the most impactful person in your life?
•What was a scary world event you remember vividly living through?
•In what ways was your parenting style the same as your parents? In what ways was it different?
•Are there circumstances in which you wish you’d been more ________? (kind, graceful, confident, lenient, forgiving, etc)
•What book(s) had the biggest impact or influence on you?
•What’s a question you wish someone would ask you?
*Note: My grandparents are almost 90 years old, and I certainly can/should ask them these questions, amongst a million others! My grandmother tells us often that we should record her life story so we have it documented. Any other questions I should consider asking??
Britt, your questions were wonderful probing ones that will add fodder for family history stories or slices. I even found myself pondering the responses. I think I would want someone to ask me how I feel about living at this stage in my life.

Those are some great questions! I wonder how your grandparents would respond! Please, post the answers if you ask them because I think that would be a great series of blogs!

What a grat list of questions and how fortunate you are to still be able to ask them and get answers. If I didn’t know the story, I would ask my grandparents how they met.
