I never thought I would participate – much less complete – a month long writing challenge shared with an actual audience of readers. Well, I blogged every single day in March and then “poemized” every single day in April. I am WIPED. In fact, when my husband asked what writing habit I was completing in May, I was bumbling and felt almost…lost?
Randomly, I applied for a scholarship spot in Susannah Conway’s Journal Love Club thinking I would try my luck, but feeling “certain” I would never actually hear back. Guess what?! I DID! Even though my husband and I both said, “that’s it? That’s the only commitment?,” it does feel scarier than one month because it is a one year – one WHOLE year – of responding to a daily journal prompt. Yikes!
Another goal I had for 2021 was to complete one book a month, and while I barely made it in March and April, my reading life was truly an afterthought both of those months. May sounds like a good time to lean deeply back into reading!
I have absolutely nothing cool or insightful or tender to share today, so here are five random thoughts:
1 – I’m scheduled to deliver my second son in twenty days (!!!)
2 – There are 13 school days left until I begin maternity leave
3 – I’m so, so excited my sister will be here soon from Hawaii to help us with the arrival of our extra human!
4 – I’m currently reading We Unleash the Merciless Storm by Tehlor Kay Mejia
5 – I am truly having a notebook crisis: should I try using dot grid paper?! (There are blogs upon blogs and Youtube videos galore with comparisons and reviews for all types of paper… in case you were wondering)
