Unattractive
cravings that
ensnare the palate,
causing heartburn
Unattractive
s t r e t c h marks that
rip the body,
turning red
Unattractive
kcab pain that
debilitates the being,
doubling down
Power
To the cravings whose
nutrients fill the body,
nourishing new life
Power
To the stretch marks whose
lines tear the body,
creating space
Power
To the back pain whose
wrenching adjusts the body,
accommodating a home for a brain and body
and fingers and toes
and heart.

It isn’t easy growing a human. I hope you both find ways to thrive along the journey.

Your writing is stunningly beautiful. I love it when I visit here! I hope things are going ok – you had me concerned over the ultrasound news in a previous post.

Thank you so, so much. We await more news on Monday morning. It feels as though I’m holding my breath until then. ❤️

It’s about the perspective, isn’t it? I like how you choose “power’ over “unattractive.”

YES! This is such a tricky thing, isn’t it, trying to shift the narrative around how we see ourselves? It is really hard to reframe what happens to our bodies from a perspective of strength and power. Here’s to you!
