Thanks to Ethical ELA’s Open Write, I was brave enough to draft a poem on my hubby’s birthday yesterday to celebrate his life and how we’ve grown while also using my 2021 One Little Word.

Connecting
through our words
feels safe
Connection
like this
once felt impossible
Connecting
our ideas
liberates my mind
Connection
to your mind
feels a privilege
Connecting
with you
feels easy
Connection
to your heart
makes mine beat
Connecting
Connecting
Connecting
as you make space for my curiosities
and encourage my endeavors
and teach me to love you so that our
connection remains.
Multifaceted Musings 
Marriage is all about connections and commitments. Your poem illustrates the deep connection you have to your husband. Wishing your husband a happy birthday.

There’s so much I love about this poem – your alternating between connection/connecting, along with the heartbeat of “connecting/connecting/connecting.”

I love how being in a relationship like the one you and your husband enjoy causes both partners to be more than who they were alone. “A sum greater than its parts” is a result of that effect. Thanks for sharing this poem!
